About me

May 5, 2008

I will have played Eve for 3 years once June rolls around. My first character started out in Lordless and I was there for just about 2-3 days before the drama started and things fell apart. From there I ended up joining another goon ran corp called The Regulars and we were up north with Forsaken Empire. It stayed pretty drama free for the longest time, but then we found out Remedial was planning on creating another goon corp (Goonfleet) and we were going to try to get our first share of 0.0 space. FE was starting to fall apart so I ended up moving my stuff down and joined in on the first few raids of 3FA’s space.

After all that ended and we started to settle down in S-U I had a pretty good handle on the game and started leading newbies around in the first few recruiting drives. I was a hardcore player during this time until right about before we moved east to help out the Russians. I then got hired on at a head systems admin at a healthcare company in town. So my playing time dropped off dramatically.

I’m back to playing a lot more these days. On the weekends and a handful of weeknights I participate in some roaming gangs and have some fun. I’ll also solo in low sec from time to time.

In real life I’ve been married for a little over 5 years and my wife and I do a lot of traveling. I’ve had the sys admin position at the healthcare company for about a year and a half. I’m a big homebrewer, last year I won Homebrewer of the year for the Oregon Brew Crew. I’m also a certified Beer Judge and I’m close to the points needed for a national ranking, but I don’t have the test score to get that ranking yet. Other then that my other big passion is college football and if you visit Something Awful’s SAS forum, then you’ve seen my college football threads.

I feel that I’m the best candidate for the CSM position due to my real life experience. Without getting into too much detail for the internet stalkers, I deal with various committees on a daily basis. For the Oregon Brew Crew I was the competition chair and organized the Pacific Northwest National Homebrew competition, which happens to be one of the larger competitions in the US. For this I had to organize over 400 entries, and 60 volunteers, make sure they all knew what they were doing, get the supplies they needed and have it all done in 7 hours. (Which sounds like a lot of time, but isn’t). With that being the biggest one I’ve done, it’s not the only. I’ve either ran or helped out with various other competitions all around the northwest and helped advise others throughout the country.

On a daily basis I have to deal with various committees and groups I belong too. These are things like work committees and various IT committees that I’m on. Overcoming conflict in those groups is something I have a vast majority of experience from and I believe that being in Goonfleet I will need those skills to overcome conflict that bound to come from that association.

As your CSM I will do my best to bring CCP’s attention to fixing the mechanics of 0.0 space. For far too long they have ignored how crappy POS warfare is, how out of balance Titans are in the game and while I haven’t had a chance to look at their hardware I’m guessing that the hardware used to run empire space pales in comparison to what is used to run the area in which we live. I also believe my real life experience of being a network admin and programmer will give me the skills necessary to knowing when CCP is bullshitting us or telling us the truth.

I also believe that because I haven’t been as public on the eve forums, I won’t have the built up hostility that some of the other goonswarm members would receive if they were elected to the council. I would like this council to be able to actually get things fixed in this game and not turn into shouting match or pissing contest with typical goon antics. (I’ll leave those for the nighttime when we can all get drunk together and do some blow off a hooker’s ass or something like that*)
