About me

May 5, 2008

I will have played Eve for 3 years once June rolls around. My first character started out in Lordless and I was there for just about 2-3 days before the drama started and things fell apart. From there I ended up joining another goon ran corp called The Regulars and we were up north with Forsaken Empire. It stayed pretty drama free for the longest time, but then we found out Remedial was planning on creating another goon corp (Goonfleet) and we were going to try to get our first share of 0.0 space. FE was starting to fall apart so I ended up moving my stuff down and joined in on the first few raids of 3FA’s space.

After all that ended and we started to settle down in S-U I had a pretty good handle on the game and started leading newbies around in the first few recruiting drives. I was a hardcore player during this time until right about before we moved east to help out the Russians. I then got hired on at a head systems admin at a healthcare company in town. So my playing time dropped off dramatically.

I’m back to playing a lot more these days. On the weekends and a handful of weeknights I participate in some roaming gangs and have some fun. I’ll also solo in low sec from time to time.

In real life I’ve been married for a little over 5 years and my wife and I do a lot of traveling. I’ve had the sys admin position at the healthcare company for about a year and a half. I’m a big homebrewer, last year I won Homebrewer of the year for the Oregon Brew Crew. I’m also a certified Beer Judge and I’m close to the points needed for a national ranking, but I don’t have the test score to get that ranking yet. Other then that my other big passion is college football and if you visit Something Awful’s SAS forum, then you’ve seen my college football threads.

I feel that I’m the best candidate for the CSM position due to my real life experience. Without getting into too much detail for the internet stalkers, I deal with various committees on a daily basis. For the Oregon Brew Crew I was the competition chair and organized the Pacific Northwest National Homebrew competition, which happens to be one of the larger competitions in the US. For this I had to organize over 400 entries, and 60 volunteers, make sure they all knew what they were doing, get the supplies they needed and have it all done in 7 hours. (Which sounds like a lot of time, but isn’t). With that being the biggest one I’ve done, it’s not the only. I’ve either ran or helped out with various other competitions all around the northwest and helped advise others throughout the country.

On a daily basis I have to deal with various committees and groups I belong too. These are things like work committees and various IT committees that I’m on. Overcoming conflict in those groups is something I have a vast majority of experience from and I believe that being in Goonfleet I will need those skills to overcome conflict that bound to come from that association.

As your CSM I will do my best to bring CCP’s attention to fixing the mechanics of 0.0 space. For far too long they have ignored how crappy POS warfare is, how out of balance Titans are in the game and while I haven’t had a chance to look at their hardware I’m guessing that the hardware used to run empire space pales in comparison to what is used to run the area in which we live. I also believe my real life experience of being a network admin and programmer will give me the skills necessary to knowing when CCP is bullshitting us or telling us the truth.

I also believe that because I haven’t been as public on the eve forums, I won’t have the built up hostility that some of the other goonswarm members would receive if they were elected to the council. I would like this council to be able to actually get things fixed in this game and not turn into shouting match or pissing contest with typical goon antics. (I’ll leave those for the nighttime when we can all get drunk together and do some blow off a hooker’s ass or something like that*)

*props to those who get the movie reference

Rough Ideas

May 5, 2008

Various Rough ideas:

(Keep in mind that these are rough ideas and while there has been time and thought put into them, they are by no means ready to dump into the game)

0.0 Space

Border Regions – Back in the good old days you could deploy a crapload of mines on 0.0 gates and prevent random gankers from coming by. Eventually it was realized that this was a horrible idea and was taken out of the game. I believe that we should add in border regions for Sov 4 space. Would be able to put up a variety of structures in these systems, such as scanners that can search for cloaked ships, turrets that will fire on hostiles and structures that will help people mine. This is a very very rough idea at this point, so most of this is subject to change

POS Skyhoook – Allows Motherships and Titan pilots to jump out of their ships and have fun playing the game again with those characters. The skyhook would be a module that they could dock their ship up at and leave it at a POS without having to worry about someone stealing it. But the module would be shootable. If the POS was put into reinforced you couldn’t jump back into that ship and if the POS was eventually blown up you could steal the ship. So while you could leave your ship someplace for safekeeping while you got into a Battleship, you would still be running some risk for taking that action.

Cynojammer – Add in a stront bay for the cyno jammer. But there would only be enough fuel in there for 1-3 hours. The HP for the structure would be reduced to make it easier to put the Cynojammer into reinforced mode.

Titan Nerf – Due to some lame RP explanation, Titans would not be able to fire multiple DDs on the same grid. For example, if you’re on a gate and someone comes in and DD’s a second Titan couldn’t come in and fire their DD until the cool down period was over (45-60 minutes)

Blackop POS – Basically these are just like any other POS, but you can’t see the contents inside. The guns, disruptors and other modules that are supposed to be outside would appear outside, but you couldn’t see what’s inside the POS shields. The contents would essentially be cloaked. There could be an active gang in there or they could be elsewhere.

Due to some lame RP explanation you would only be able to deploy one of these per SOV 4 system you have, but you could deploy it anywhere you want. For example, if you have 1 SOV 4 system in Scalding Pass, you could deploy 1 Blackop POS in Delve (or wherever you wanted)

Fixing Logistics:

Jump Freighter Cargo Expansion – Pretty self explanatory. If the developers think that the current setup is suitable for 0.0 space. They should be forced to keep POS’s in 7 regions fueled and after 2-3 months of them doing that we’ll see if they have the same opinion or if they are clinically insane by this point.

POS Ice Miner – In a system that has Sov 4, you can deploy a module that will mine ice and fuel tower that are only in the sov 4 constellation. This module will show up at the ice belt and can be attacked and destroyed.

Misc:

Torps – While torps were overpowered pre Revelations, post Rev they suck ass. I have a character that has over 35mil+ skill points and they barley fly over 30km. I don’t think you should be able to easily jump into a being able to use a weapon that can dish out a load of damage like torp can right away, but I would like to see some sort of advanced missile skills that would all you to get that range up a bit.

Mining – Mining in 0.0 is boring and not profitable at all. This needs to fixed. While I would be happy to announce some of my ideas for this, but I don’t do mining in 0.0 so my ideas might not be the best for fixing this problem. I would turn to people who have more knowledge on this subject for their ideas instead.

My 5 issues for the CSM

May 5, 2008

These are the 5 issues I vow to address as your Eve CSM

  1. Get CCP to address lag.
  2. 2 work a better alternative to POS warfare.
  3. Getting Titans back to their original idea of mobile outpost instead of giant I win buttons that they currently are
  4. Promote more growth into 0.0 regions.
  5. Fix lag, this issue is so bad, it needs to be mentioned twice

3rd Major Endorsment from the Goonfleet Primary

April 23, 2008

frozenphil from the goonfleet forums writes:

Voted NoghriViR because Davey is a fucking pubbie, Bane is an insufferable faggot, and Darius has proven to be nothing but fucking worthless. NoghriViR is the best of a bunch of terrible choices.

2nd Major Endorsment

April 21, 2008

To follow up my previous endorsment from Lady Scarlet, this Rhino has come out and endorsed me for Eve CSM

My number 1 issue to address as your CSM candidate

April 18, 2008

I pleadge to you, that my number 1 issue to address during my term as CSM will be to address LAG in eve. Lag ruins the player expereince of all people that encounter it. I know from personal experience 2 of my friends that I introduced to EVE gave up on playing the game cause it was “too laggy.” If CCP can keep Jita realitivity lag free with 700 people in it, they can take the time to beef up the hard ware in station systems of non-empire space.

The only candidate officially endorsed by LadyScarlet

April 18, 2008

It’s true, I’m the only CSM canidate offically endorsed by LadyScarlet. We reached the deal last night during the Goonswarm vs BoB fight in Delve sysetm 319 last night. The endorsement from LadyScarlet is one of these most important endorsments that any CSM canidate could recieve. She is the Ted Kennedy of EVE

This is what my campaign is all about:

New Location

April 9, 2008

I moved my campagin website over here. I was gettting sick and tired of how blogspot was screwing with what I was trying to post. At least I have the option for format things I want the way I want over here.
